About J L Hodges
I have spent my entire adult life personally witnessing, investigating, and photographing the horrors that humankind commit. I now turn my lens, and talents to the creation of art - the presentation, and deep, spiritual appreciation of beauty.
For over 46 years, I have served in parallel, and secret lives within the intelligence, law enforcement, and professional security arenas. Three years of that time, I served in the United States Army as a squad leader in special operations, and combat during the Vietnam War. These hard lessons, and my personal development of critical thinking have brought me to the place that I am today.
I have taken photographs in every kind of light, and weather condition that one can suffer - using both, very poor, and extremely sophisticated cameras. My experience, on camera as an actor, as well as post - production producer, helps me guide my lens, and trap special moments that have deep, and complex meanings.
I suffer from PTSD, or more specifically, combat stress, and I have found that art, and the pursuit of beauty, has been an extremely effective therapy. So, if you also suffer, perhaps my captures will help you find your center, and deep inner peace.
